Bruce Barton joins AAR with more than 30 years of employment history
in academic, government and private sectors. Bruce earned
B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Zoology from the University of Guelph
specializing in aquatic sciences, and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Science
from Oregon State University. He contributes to the team
his valuable experience in fish physiology, fish population ecology,
fisheries management, and aquatic invertebrate taxonomy and ecology,
as well as in scientific writing and editing. Dr. Barton’s
particular expertise is effects of environmental stressors on fish
and fish populations. In addition to 13 years of academic
experience as a university professor of fish biology, fisheries
management and freshwater ecology, Bruce has spent much of his
career in fisheries research and senior management positions with
federal, provincial and state agencies throughout the U.S. and
Canada, including Alberta. He has published more than 50
refereed journal articles and book chapters, co-edited two books,
and co-authored numerous symposium proceedings and government and
consultant reports.
