Aquatic Ecologist
Michael brings to AAR experience in several fields of ecology.
He earned a M.Sc. in plant ecology and a Ph.D. in aquatic ecology
from the University of Calgary and was previously a university
lecturer and coordinator of large teaching teams. His
earlier work as a research laboratory manager involved testing of physiological
growth models of invertebrates as tools for toxicity assessment. His expertise
in planktonic processes in freshwater systems includes algal-grazer interactions,
dynamics of phytoplankton and zooplankton populations, nutrient cycling, diversity
in planktonic communities, and dynamics and development of food webs. Michael
also has expertise in phytoplankton and zooplankton taxonomy, population ecology,
experimental design and statistical modeling. His duties at AAR include
project management, report production, review of water quality aspects of Environmental
Impact Assessments for large-scale developments, and data analysis for water
quality monitoring projects. |
